Lifestyles Of The Rich And Stupid © Tim Steere 2003
With fame comes money, there is no doubt about that. But also with some people it brings an ego the size of their next pay check. It is a fact that the way money is divided is totally unfair. The amount of money going to people in the limelight and stardom is quite scary and pathetic. Of course this isn't to say that people haven't earned or deserved it, far from it, but it has to be said that some people who have no talent, get it anyway. This is what annoys me.
One example of this is the idol pop star. Some of these people have no concept of the idea of talent or music diversity. It all revolves round a computer generated drum beat, or a squeaky 18-30 singer. For example Gareth Gates and well, pretty much any girl bands. Now the money that these 'musical wonders of the world' get is sickening. Gareth Gates received a cool £1 million from a hair gel company and will, over the next 5 years, receive at least £5 million. What has this man done to deserve it? He fakes a stutter, makes a huge gap in his teeth and performs like a jackass. Fantastic, give that man some money!!! How about NO. Also people like 'Jenny from the Block' who believes that money and the lifestyle haven't changed them at all. Bollocks. Don't be fooled by the rocks that she's got she says, I couldn't give a fuck bout your silly rocks, you are a prima Donna and you can piss off. I bet you that if she went back to the 'block' she'd probably just cry and throw a wobbly. She has no concept about what money and fame has done to her.
Another example of this financial farce is Janet Jackson. Now I have to admit she is quite talented, well more so than other pop stars, but the way it has gone to her head is similar to her sister, I mean brother Michael. She seems the loveable and 'sane' Jackson sibling. Far from it, during her latest tour, the sweet side faded and the ego shone brightly out of her arse. Her demands were as ridiculous as completely white room, white furniture from a certain company in some obscure country, and a bath full of Evian mineral water at room temperature!! What the hell?! You can't tell me that's normal. And I wouldn't be surprised if at half of her gigs, the music is pumped through; it is on Top Of The Pops!!
Another example is the recent dealings in football. Now don't me wrong I'm a huge fan of football and an avid Leeds United fan, but the money situation is ridiculous. The latest big money transfer is the soon to be completed David Beckham transfer to Real Madrid. One of, if not the biggest club on the planet. But let's analyse - every match is 90 mins long and some of those players earn hundreds of thousands every game, lets face it's just kicking a ball round a field. Now I can do that at my park but I ain't rolling in it! The David Beckham transfer is about £24.5 million. And it is estimated that Beckham will receive around £120,000 a week. That is truly ridiculous. Is it right to give a man who kicks a ball for 90 mins, and not necessarily well, and sounds like a chipmunk on speed, £120,000? I don't think so. With the starving people around the world - what could that money achieve? Personally I think he should be ashamed and with his marriage to that stick thing, it can only get worse. Also Steve McManaman who plays for Real Madrid gets £100,000 a week and only plays 10 times a season. That is disgraceful. Another fine example is Rio Ferdinand, following his transfer to Man Utd (Scum!) from Leeds; he now earns £70,000 a week. Something tells me a man who can't do his job properly and can't make a coherent sentence doesn't deserve that money. Finances are the reason for the sharp decline in British Football, with numerous clubs going into administration, so why don't these clubs help? It's really sad.
There is no question that there are many people in this world that deserve some of this money and need it badly. The bands that play instruments, what a concept! Are genuinely talented and some get money, but they don't let it go to their head, and keep making good music. Also the people unrecognised for what they do in life, doctors and so on, the true heroes, will make what David Beckham makes in a week, in about 4 years. And the people who have it take it for granted, it is sickening. As quoted by Big Brovaz, or whatever the hell they are called, they like Gucci dresses and drop top Kompressors (I think that's a car or summat) and the sad thing is, those untalented idiots will probably get those for a few years to come. It is not right and truly the lifestyle of these so called 'talented' people leaves a lot to be desired.
