It's times like these when you're reading a book where a quadriplegic is about to be set on fire by a mad conjurer that you start to feel a little bit happier that you're the person you are, with all your working limbs.

It's a tough world they say, with all manner of people trying to do you, rip you off; convince you that you need handsome cream, whatever, if they need to sell it, they'll find someone gullible enough to buy it. In the words of Douglas Adams, "...you've really got to know where your towel is".

I speak not of homely life, where all is warm and fluffy, but of independence, setting out into the big wide world on your own...some say "it's just university", I say it's an opportunity, for self discovery and development, for fun, for all manner of new and dare I utter it...exciting things.

Having just started I can honestly say that I have enjoyed Fresher's week completely, met a lot of nutters, danced more than I ever have before and been to a hilarious night of comedy, whereby this one lad called Sam thought he'd be dead clever and insult the headlining comedian...put it this way, we were swiftly instructed to wait a couple weeks till he's forgotten about it and then if we see him around campus, to shout, "Oi Sam, c*nt!"

I know that it's going to be really difficult with the workload when it begins this Tuesday, but I also know that I will enjoy the work that I am going to be doing. So it shouldn't be too bad.

Ah...I may have to expand this article at a later date, because I need to have the full uni experience first!

Update!

Having had a fair few lectures now, I can say that it's all good, labs are a lot of fun, we've only done a few basic java programs so far, but they've all worked, after editing out the deliberate mistakes in the code.

Met a few slightly g33ky nutters, in the form of Will, Tom, Stu, Wendy and John. They're pretty cool, it'll be "fine".
